We’re back and we’re bad. A new chapter for Trash Palace, after a longish absence, with a movie that’s been called “unbearable,” “a travesty,” and “mind-melting.” It scores an impressive 1.7 on IMDB. It’s Weird Al Yankovic’s favourite film. And if it’s good enough for Weird Al, it’s good enough for Trash Palace.
It’s Birdemic: Shock and Terror, another in the auteur stream of bad film, this one by James Nguyen. Released in 2008, this film is influenced by Nguyen’s love of Hitchcock and devotion to environmental issues. It spawned a few sequels of dubious repute, after Nguyen embraced the trash-cult audience and attempted to give them more of what they saw in the first film. This is the original, though, the one Nguyen intended to make as a great film destined to change the world. It is, arguably, a great film, but for all the wrong reasons.
This will be our first screening at Soft Canyon, an underground (literally) location in Friedrichshain. It’s limited seating at this place, so an RSVP is essential.
